Holiday Spending by the Numbers

‘Tis the season to shop for loved ones and to treat yourself. The numbers show consumer spending is as strong as ever, making modest but steady gains. The National Retail Federation predicts that holiday sales during November and December will grow between 8.5 percent and 10.5 percent over 2020 to between $843.4 billion and $859 billion.

While more and more people might be spending their money online, it may surprise you that the number of store openings over the past year, at 5,720, is almost double the number of store closings at 2,890.
